My wardrobe was the first victim of my Kondo-induced, declutter craze early last month, where I cleared out nearly half of my closet. Truth be told, it was a long time coming. I had been holding on to pre-marriage and pre-baby clothes in hopes that they would fit or come back in style (nope and nope). I also made quite a few questionable purchases, all the name of getting a good deal, that simply didn’t suit my body or style. Side note: It’s so hard for me to resist a sale sometimes, even if I don’t have any real use for the product!! Adding items to my Shoptagr account has really been helping in this (more on that in this post). In order to really evaluate the clothes that I decided to hold on to AND to keep myself from making any more bad acquisition, I held off on clothes shopping for almost two months and now, with numerous end of season sales upon us, I am excited to replenish my wardrobe with versatile new pieces that I (hopefully) don’t regret in the near future 😛 .
I’m of the school of thought where if you wear something fitted on the bottom half, you should go for something loose or flowy on top. I live in leggings and skinny jeans, so I’m always wearing more loose, roomy tops. I have no issue with the boyfriend trend, comfort is very key for me, but there are times when I want to highlight my figure. This is why I love the combination of skinny jeans and flared sleeves. You get a figure flattering top, but the sleeves balance everything out!
These are some flared or bell sleeve tops I’ve been eyeing from the current Nordstrom sale (images courtesy of Nordstrom.com):
Right before Christmas, I bought my first pair of Joe’s Jeans and I’ve become addicted to them ever since. They are so buttery soft and comfortable that I don’t feel a huge difference between them and my beloved leggings 🙂 . I have a pretty dark wash and I haven’t experienced any fading or shrinking (I wash after each wear and let them air dry). Thinking about picking up another pair (or two 😉 ) in the sale. I want to stick with the style I originally purchased, the Icon Mid-rise Skinny Ankle. This fits my 5’2″ frame perfectly. Here are the ones I have my eye on (images courtesy of Nordstrom.com).
And finally, my boots! I recently posted these on Instagram and I’m happy to see these are still available at Nordstrom and in the sale. I bought these last year around this time and they are a staple in my boot collection for sure. I love their rustic, distressed look and the cute leather tie-up laces. The 2″ block heel is very comfortable and much appreciated for my petite height! Depending on your personal preference, these come in three color ways: gray, black and the rust that I have.
I’ll keep you guys posted with any new keepers that I score! Let me know if you like posts like this. I almost always have online shopping carts filled with potentials, in fact, my next shopping mission is finding some Spring dresses for a couple daytime parties coming up. I’d love to include you all on my hunt!
